How Swatches Can Make All the Difference
When exploring a swatch online, you’ll typically be seeing it in bright direct lighting, often in a studio or a space with minimal shadow, colour and interference. Our homes, however, are spaces filled with personality, curtains, shadows and accents, which can all affect the boldness, brightness and visual appearance of a material.
The best way to achieve a ‘true to life’ sample is through testing and trying a swatch in your home – pairing it against different walls, carpets, in differently lit areas and at different times of the day. A wood finish, for example, might look entirely different first thing in the morning than it does at dinner time, depending on how the light moves in your space, the colour of the wood and the product itself.
Our accessible and easy to use swatch tool offers four free samples to help you test and try out different shades, colours, textures and materials for the products you’re looking to explore. With so many fabrics and woods available in our huge library of customisable products, we understand the need to try out different variations of materials – from luxurious, high-end fabrics to varnished and oiled wood finishes.
How to Use Our Swatch Tool
Once you’ve found a product you’d like to order swatches for, our tool is designed to help you through a simple and straightforward selection process – allowing you to choose your four favourite swatches to experience in person.
Head to ‘Order free swatches’ on the product page, and filter by room and product type i.e. bed, sofa, dining table, armchair, etc. Then you’ll be invited to select a brand and a colour to help narrow down your swatch options.
We’ve also broken our swatches down into different tiers with variable pricing structures, to make finding the right material for your budget even easier. Each tier has its own individual set of features, characteristics and properties, from our simple and uncomplicated SELECT range to our refined and luxurious HAUTE range.
Once you’ve selected up to four free samples, we’ll personally package them up and get them sent over to your front door. We offer free delivery, so the only thing you’ll need to worry about is choosing your favourite swatch!
Your Swatches at Home
Now for the best bit - trying them out in your own home. We recommend testing out your swatches in the following spaces and conditions:
Against the flooring
Against the wall of your chosen room
Against any rugs or floor coverings
With other pieces of furniture that will be close by
In different lightings i.e.with the main light on, lamps and natural lighting
At night and in the daytime
It can also be a good idea to take photos of your swatches against different surfaces to help remind you of how one material looked in comparison to another.
