Hi, I’m Olga, an interior design expert based in the Lausanne region. I specialize in helping people create homes that are both stylish and functional, guiding them through the many decisions required to bring their vision to life.

I believe that practicality is the foundation of great design, but I also strive to make your home a beautiful, welcoming place that brings you joy and pride, ensuring that every investment is thoughtful and efficient.

TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND AND HOW IT INFUENCES YOUR APPROACH AND MAKES YOUR WORK AS AN INTERIOR DESIGNER SO SPECIAL?

I founded Olga Kuzmina Interiors in 2017, and for over seven years, I have been independently helping clients in Switzerland create spaces that truly enhance their lives. Interior design is actually my second career, following an exciting journey in brand marketing. What started as a passionate hobby evolved into a full-fledged profession after I completed professional training and became a certified interior designer.

My marketing background is very helpful now, enabling me to understand people’s inner motives and translate them into visually compelling, functional designs.

MINDFULNESS IS AT THE HEART OF YOUR WORK, TELL US MORE ABOUT THIS.

"Your Space. Designed Mindfully" encapsulates my approach to interior design, where every detail is considered with care and purpose. It means creating spaces that are not only beautiful but also deeply personal and functional, reflecting your unique lifestyle and needs. Mindful design is about understanding your individual preferences and ensuring that each decision enhances both the aesthetics and practicality of your home, making it a place where you feel truly comfortable and connected.

WHAT’S YOUR INTERIOR DESIGN PHILOSOPHY?

My philosophy is to blend creativity with practicality, ensuring that every space I design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional.

I believe in deeply understanding my clients to extract their individual style, then crafting designs that are tailored to their needs. Ultimately, my work aims to improve my clients' lives, making their homes not just more beautiful, but more comfortable and aligned with their lifestyle.

WOULD YOU SAY YOU HAVE A PARTICULAR STYLE YOU FAVOUR IN YOUR DESIGNS?

While I don’t limit myself to a particular style, I’m drawn to designs that balance elegance, practicality, and comfort. I love incorporating elements that are timeless yet have a modern flair, creating spaces that feel both current and enduring. My focus is always on adapting my approach to meet each client’s unique tastes and needs, ensuring their space feels authentically theirs.

IS THERE A PARTICULAR TYPE OF PROJECT IN WHICH YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF AN EXPERT AND WHERE YOU CAN ADD THE MOST VALUE TO YOUR CLIENTS?

Yes, one of my key areas of expertise is working with new build projects. This typically involves clients purchasing their future home at the project or construction stage, where the developer offers options for kitchen and bathroom designs, finishing materials, storage, and the adaptation of electrical and lighting layouts. I believe this is a fantastic opportunity for clients to create a highly personalized home.

However, not everyone realizes this, and even when they do, they often lack the knowledge and confidence to make the most of it. They may be unsure of how to navigate the choices or afraid of making mistakes. Having successfully completed several similar projects and currently working on others, I have the expertise to help my clients leverage the opportunities provided by the developer to create their dream home - beautiful, functional, and a wise investment.

DO YOU HAVE A STAND-OUT PROJECT YOU’VE WORKED ON?

This is a tough question because every project I work on is special in its own way. However, one standout experience was working simultaneously on two apartments in the newly built OAK quarter in the north of Lausanne. Both apartments were in the same building, work on both projects began at the construction stage, with the same developer, and both clients were families of dual-career professionals with two small children. Despite these similarities, the apartments turned out completely different, which I find fascinating. It vividly illustrates how much a project is shaped by the client’s unique needs and preferences, making each design truly one-of-a-kind.

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INSPIRATION FROM?

Inspiration comes from many places - art, nature, architecture, and even the people I work with. I'm always learning and absorbing new ideas, whether through visiting design exhibitions, researching design solutions, or collecting ideas from Pinterest and Instagram.

However, my greatest inspiration comes from my clients; their personalities, stories, and dreams are the driving force behind every design I create.

IF YOU COULD GIVE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE TO SOMEONE ABOUT TO RETHINK OR RENOVATE THEIR HOME WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Take the time to understand what you truly want from your space before diving into the design process. Think about how you live, what you love, and what makes you feel comfortable and happy. A well-designed space should not only look good but also function well for your daily life and reflect who you are.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PIECE OF FURNITURE WE OFFER AT MILOLA AND WHY?

In Milola’s assortment, I am especially attracted to the wooden furniture, its design and quality. And I also really like the Bolzan beds, I hope that one of the projects will soon include one of them.
