OKO Cafe: Bringing Comfort to An Industrial Space
As part of our work here at Milola, we're lucky to partner with interior designers from all over Switzerland who are looking for that perfect piece of furniture to enhance and shape their client's spaces.
From creating beautiful terrace designs with our outdoor bistro sets and stylish day beds to transforming office spaces with minimalist desk options and Scandi coffee tables, our productshave been used in many different spaces – both professionally and personally.

Recently, we were approached by the renowned Zurich-based architect Archiculture to provide them with the perfect lounge chairs for their latest cafe project: OKO.
‘OKO redefines brunch with carefully prepared dishes and exceptional coffee. We not only set a new standard for morning indulgence, but also serve fresh, high-quality lunches and relaxed after-work cocktails.’
A modern space with both daytime and evening service hours, catering for the lightness of morning coffee dates and brunches as well as the intimacy of late-night cocktails and after-work drinks.
The COMB Lounge Chair
Enter the COMB Lounge Chair, the perfect design selected by the client. A beautiful mid-century piece by Kristensen Kristensen, the COMB Lounge Chair has long been a popular chair with our clients, with a unique and elegant design that makes it a visually impressive addition to any living space.
The wide armrests of the COMB frame instinctively serve as in-built side tables, sized at just the right width for coffee cups and small plates – perfect for the OKO cafe’s menu of specialty drinks and bespoke brunch options. The comfortable padded seat invites comfortable and relaxed conversation, with that ‘home away from home’ feeling that so many coffee shops and cafes aspire for.
With 6 chairs needed to complete their space, the COMB chair offered the right combination of warmth, comfort and style that the client was looking for, and came to us for a consultation on colour and finish.
How We Can Help With Our Bespoke Sample Service
With many of our products, selecting the base design is only half of the purchasing process, as our options for customisation are expansive and varied – letting the customer explore as many combinations as possible to find their perfect fit.
For the OKO cafe, we sent out a selection of wood and fabric samples to help Archiculture and the OKO team select their ideal pairing for both the frame of the COMB chair and the seat itself. Offering choices of wood colour, texture, staining and finish, our samples invited the client to get a real sense of how the chair would both fit and feel in their space. Similarly, the choices of fabric can also make a difference to the overall feel of the chair – each different sample gives an idea of not only how the fabric will look but how durable, comfortable, washable and sustainable it will be too.
As a space where food and drink will be served, the durability and maintenance of the fabric was particularly important, as the seats would need to withstand customer spillages, dropped food, stains and dirt without requiring heavy duty cleaning.
As a result, the combination of Mocca Brown Oak wood and Natural Bouclé Alpine cushions was selected – a perfect mix of warmth, contemporary style and an on-brand palette for their bespoke space.

The OKO Feel
The OKO Cafe space itself is designed to feel futuristic, modern, industrial and raw, with exposed brick, mirror glass, brass tones and dark flooring featuring heavily in their interior design. Reflecting the fine-dining elements of their specialty food and drink, the lighting, colour scheme, material usage and layout has been carefully considered and elevated to deliver an upmarket, high-end feel to the entire space.
The COMB Chairs fit perfectly into this visually led space, providing a warm contrast of curved edges, softness, relaxation and ease against the cool decor of the location. The 6 chairs selected are a beautiful complement to the design and aesthetic feel of OKO and we’re delighted to see our pieces showcased in such a striking and impactful space. Can’t wait to pop in for a coffee soon!
